Summary

Part of a package of six bills to give effect to the Government’s Nation Building and Jobs Plan, the bill appropriates a sum out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund to establish the Energy Efficient Homes Program to: provide free ceiling insulation for all uninsulated owner-occupied homes; provide landlords who install insulation in their rental properties with a rebate of up to $1,000 until 30 June 2011 and remove the cap on the number of properties that can be insulated; and increase the maximum Solar Hot Water Rebate to $1,600 for households that do not access the insulation program and who replace existing hot water systems with a solar and heat pump water system by 30 June 2012.
